Why should I show my email address on my profile?
For starters, a lot of people prefer to respond to comments through email. For those of you looking for friendship, enabling your email is the way to go. You can get to know people a lot better through short emails than by commenting back and forth. It is also a lot easier to answer questions in an email than in one's comment section. Also, someone may ask you a question that you would like to respond to that you would rather answer privately.
Isn't sharing your email address on your profile unsafe?
It is if you use an email address that reveals your personal information! I would suggest creating a new (free!) Yahoo email address. This will ensure privacy, as well as separate your comments from the rest of your email. Ex: I have an email address specifically set up for blog correspondence. My real name is not attached to this email address anywhere. All things blog related go to and from this email address. Makes life a whole lot simpler, especially when you're dealing with a lot of comments.

How do I show my email address on my profile?
1. Go to dashboard-->edit profile.
2. Scroll down until you see 'Email Address' under the 'Identity' heading. Refer to the area circled in red above. Enter in your blog correspondence email address. Notice that this will not change the address you log in as, it will simple be the email address that bloggers will be able to contact you at.
3. Scroll back up and check the box next to 'Show my email address' (circled in blue).
4. Save.
What on earth are you talking about??? Tell me again why I should do this. I don't get it!

Check out this comment from Jenners in my inbox. Notice the "from" field (circled in red). It lists the person's name and shows their email address, if they have selected 'Show my email address' in their profile. Then you can simply hit reply (circled in orange) to respond to that comment as an email. Pretty cool, huh? If they have not elected to show their email address in their profile, then their email address is shown as noreply-comment@blogger.com. Replies sent to this email address do not go to their intended recipient.
How can I get my comments delivered to my email inbox?

1. Go to dashboard-->settings-->comments.
2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom to where it says 'Comment Notification Email'.
3. Enter your blog correspondence email address in the box.
4. Click on Save Settings.
Enjoy the blogging world as you never have before!
*Feel free to link back to this post. I won't mind one bit. :)

Was that creepy?
Sorry, please don't block me.
Wow, you really can read minds cant you?? I was trying to figure out how to email a response to your comment you left without showing the whole world what I had to say. Sweet! Do you still have blog blogs as a 3 column?? I cannot see the right comlun on either page??
It was supposed to say "both blogs" not "blog blogs" oops!
I love your fantastic blog........
I need a little help fixing my background. My main problem Jill is that I just never have a spare minute to look deeply enough into it to get it fixed the way I want.
Since I blog for the Humane Society in my town, I really want to keep it very simple so as not to take away from the main reason I'm here.
Does that make sense?
Take good care and.......

I am so glad you did this. I am going to link to this because I wish EVERYONE would use their e-mail address so I can write back to their comments or answer questions. After all, if someone takes the time to leave a comment, it would be great to have an easy way to acknowledge it! Great advice and tutorial!
Thanks for pointing this out!
I noticed from your previous post that you're going into semi-retirement on the blog design tips. I just started a blog where I offer free Blogger tricks, tweaks, and modified/customized Blogger templates, just because I love blog makeover madness and sharing the fun!
Just recently started reading here. Will be back to visit. :) Congrats and best wishes on the new job!
Thank you for giving these helpful tips. I came by your blog via Jenners' link. It was easy to add my e-mail account to my profile. Thanks for your help:)
I came here via Jenner's link too and as a baby-blogger am very glad I did! am getting coffee now so that I can read & learn - at last somehwere to find the answers (complete with instructions) to my MANY questions!
Sneaky Momma,
You have been a lifesaver! I just removed my header borders, centered my buttons, and added your button to my blog! I'm so happy I stumbled on to you! Good luck in your new adventures. I'm grateful for all your help, and am glad you will still be posting occasionally. Your info has been completely helpful for me, a blogger-baby!
I have a question...
When you post something on your blog, then 3 days later you want to add something more to that post and you click on edit post you have all these bunch of codes from the font color, fonts, bold, etc.
I mean it's impossible to even find where to start typing again!
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks!!

I have a question about the comment form. How did you get the wording below "post a comment"? I have seen couple of blogs like that and would like to add my personal touch to my blog.

Have a email question. I have my comments sent to me email. But would also like a widget for contact me as well. Incase someone would like to email me and not make a comment.
Suggestion?
Thanks, Cheryl

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you found my tips to be helpful!
Have a question or a request for a future tip? You MUST attach an email address to a kind, sweet comment in order to get a personal response. :)
