Big Thanks and the New Blogger Interface

Big thanks to all of you who voted for Sneaky Momma Blog Design in the Circle of Mom's Tech Mom contest! We made the list! Wooo hooo! Couldn't have done it without you! Thank you all for your support! :) :) :) :)

I'm working on some tips for the new Blogger interface and can't wait to share them with you. I've heard that Blogger will soon "bring the advantages of Blogger’s improved interface to everyone" whether we want them or not. Have you made the switch yet? If so, what do you think? Advantages? Disadvantages? How long did it take to adjust to the new interface? Do share!

I did make the switch, but didn't much like it. Then I realized that part of the reason I didn't like it was that I was already on overload.
A bit later I decided to try it again. I like it much better than the old way--and when I visit blogs that aren't using it, I wonder why they are not (and usually decide those bloggers may be on overload too).
After I got used to the new one, I did switch back to the old one and quickly recognized the the new one works better for me.

I did make the switch but it's taking me a while to get used to the new interface.

I made the switch several months ago. It didn't take too long to get the hang of it. I really like it!

Congrats on making the list! I'm still on the old interface. I tried the new and switched back. I guess I'm not too good at change, but I'll have to do it, sooner or later. :)

I made the switch, but it did take some getting used to. After a while, I no longer miss the old one.

Congrats! You are by far my favorite blog for blogging tips. I am so glad you made it. I made the switch and now that I have figured out some of the ins and outs of it I think it is pretty terrific. I do think there are some tweaks that I would like to see added but it actually works better. It did take me a lot of playing with it and experimenting to figure out things though. A test blog is definitely something I would recommend for everyone so they don't mess their active blog up while trying to figure it out.

Congrats!
I think that I made the switch by default, I was off blogging for almost 2 years, then when I got back it was different. I think I liked the old way better, but I'm not one for change.

I made the switch a few weeks ago and still adjusting. My last post took me much longer than usual. ;-(
Advantages are the option for the extra-large image, but several of my images didn't stay centered as programed. Not sure what that is about and how to correct. Uploading images seems to be more tedious than the previous system. So, I'm not sure I like the new interface at this point. Any suggestions welcomed.

What a blessing!! A blogger friend sent me your way, and I am so glad she did! I've recently started having a problem with my blog! :( It just started yesterday, and if you would have any time at all I would so appreciate it if you could drop over to see what's been going on! I'm wondering if it's happened to others! I posted, as best I could explain it, and it's quite perplexing! I am now following your site, too! I'm also going to subscribe, and add your button to link to you! :) Here is the link to the page on my blog where I posted. If you can help me in anyway, I would be so very grateful!!

As for Blogger's 'improved interface' ... well, I've been playing around with it, getting familiar with all the changes ... it's not too bad, although I still prefer the old, more compact, version. Just used to it, I guess! Yes, change is inevitable ... even Facebook is changing all of us to the new Timeline, sooner or later, too. You have a great week, and again, I'd so appreciate any help!

Thank you,
Deborah

Hi Deborah! Thank you for putting my button on your blog. I really appreciate it! I have the same problem with the sign in issue on Firefox. I don't think I've had a problem editing posts, though. When I want to write a new post, I do it through my dashboard, by clicking on either "sign in" or the little orange square Blogger icon to the far left of it. When I want to edit, I click on the little wrench/screwdriver below the post on my blog, or go to dashboard-->edit posts. Hope this helps! You might try posting your problem on the Blogger help group forum: http://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!forum/blogger :)

Question that is unrelated to this specific post.....how do you find or create the button like you have that groups all of the social media apps in one place (Facebook me, Follow me, Follow my pins, etc)? I can't find it anywhere! Thanks so much! :)

Hi Devan! I got all of my images from Photobucket. Lots of searching to find what I wanted. Then I used Photoshop Elements to resize the icons to the size I wanted. I used the steps in this tutorial to get them to sit side-by-side. http://sneakymommablogdesign.blogspot.com/2011/07/side-by-side-buttons-intermediate.html
Try doing a search for "free social icons". There's tons of free stuff out there now. You're almost certain to find a set that matches your blog! :)

Thank you all for weighing in on the new interface. I've made the switch and glad I did so. Now, I'm off to explore! :)

I have been using the new interface for several months. I'm managing ok, but the hardest part is when I'm trying to learn how to add things that I don't know how to do in the first place, so I go find the answers and those bloggers are using the old interface in their instructions that don't match what I'm doing. Sometimes I figure it out, sometimes not.

Have you folks who like the new interface tried mobile blogging? It doesn't work on the iphone or ipad. And the iphone app doesn't let you schedule posts, or even unpublish posts. It also doesn't tell you which post is a draft, which is scheduled already, and which is already published. I'd be curious how any of you mobile blog using the new interface. Or don't you mobile blog? For me, this new interface just killed my blogging, a lot of which happens via mobile devices.

Jill @ Sneaky Momma said...

Hi John! The only device I use to update my blog is my laptop. I'm stuck in the stone age! I hate to hear that the new interface isn't working for mobile blogging. You'd think that mobile compatibility would be one of the reasons for all of the changes. Hmmmm...try looking up or posting your problem at the Blogger Help Group: http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help/topics?pli=1. Hope it gets resolved soon!

Is anyone else having problems creating a space in between paragraphs with the new interface? It's frustrating. No matter how many times i press "Enter", the paragraphs still remain a big lump of words. Anyone knows how to fix this problem? Help needed. Maybe Sneaky Momma has infos on this?
